Photoshop! Tip of The Iceberg

Photoshop is probably a world known editing program. It's been a hot topic for the past few years. Not so in the legitimate design field, but with things like celebrities. A numerous amount of celebrities have been accused of altering their photos, for example Kim Kardashian and her as some would say "overly curvaceous" behind.  Although this is probably not the best light to bring Photoshop up in, it's still pretty amazing what we are able to achieve with this awesome program.

This editing software has been the powerhouse behind many magazines and online advertising. Without it many of these "perfect" models and celebrities wouldn't be as popular, in my opinion. But photoshop is used in more ways than just beautifying ones appearance. There is a wide variety of tools and techniques on there that one is able to utilize to enhance pretty much any photo. One is able to remove scratches and wrinkles from a photo from the 1900's and make it look brand new! How amazing is that?

I'm not going to go very in-depth with the tools aspect of photoshop in this post, I will be bring that in later on, but to list off a few tools and tricks many designers use to edit images are things such as the Clone Stamp, Spot Healing, Lasso, and the Content Aware feature. These happen to be a few of my favorites in this program. Once you all get a certain feel to the program, you all will definitely have a certain thing you'll always want to use. The Clone Stamp to does essentially what it is name. It clones a certain part of an image, but it will only clone that diameter you set it at and if you want a solid clone or one with more opacity to it. Then you are able to stamp that clone anywhere you feel that it is needed, such as over a imperfection on the face. The Spot Healing tool essentially does the same thing, but instead of cloning anywhere on the image, when you drag over an area you want to fix it takes the pixels right next to the mark and recreates them to over that area your dragging over.

The Lasso and Content aware features of ways of taking a certain aspect of an image and putting is somewhere else. The Lasso tool will select whatever your wanting to remove and put that item on a different background or whatever it is your wanting to place it on. It "lasso's" around the items and helps minimize the efforts require to select it, it definitely speeds up the process because the system itself tries to assume what it is you're trying to grab and does it for you!

Overall one can do a very large amount of things with this program, specifically with just images. We will get down into other graphics such as logos later on. Photoshop has definitely come a long way since it was first released to the public in March of 1989. It is truly an amazing program that has helped restore old and famous photos and edit and create so many advanced and abstract pieces of art. But it has also created a lot of "dishonesty" in our culture today. One should not assume everyone in photos is physically perfect and strive to live up to those standards, it's impossible!

I have attached a photo of a before and after of photo of a popular female singer. Pretty cool stuff! Once again feel free to leave me a comment or follow me on twitter and Instagram!
